Introducing Kelowna Chiropractor Dr. Jeff Pereverzoff
For years I suffered from severe headaches and nosebleeds that interfered with my sports and school. I had seen a host of medical doctors with no real solutions. Finally, at the age of 12 someone suggested that my parents take me to a chiropractor and after a few visits to Dr. John Pereverzoff (can you believe we are not related??) my headaches and nosebleeds were under control. Can you say "destiny"?
Actually, it is not that magical of a story. I remember that I did not like going to the chiropractor, especially putting on that gown - lucky we don't do that these days. On the other hand though, nosebleeds at the drop of a hat did not lend to developing much of a social life for a high school student so the safe, natural alternative was good. Funny thing, most of my teenage years I thought I would be a medical doctor or a dentist. Then one day as my medical doctor was called away from the golf course for an emergency, he commented that if I wanted any kind of a sane lifestyle outside of work, I should be a chiropractor. The rest is history.
I grew up in Grand Forks, BC and did my pre-chiropractic studies at UBC in Vancouver where I took a standard pre-med program. I had exceptional grades and was excepted to all three chiropractic schools to which I applied, Toronto, Oregon, and California. It was not much of a decision. I could spend my winters in Toronto or in California, so off I went. Actually, Palmer College of Chiropractic in Santa Clara, California had a great reputation of catering to canadian students and their students did very well on canadian exams. I remember my first class, human anatomy dissection lab. Three students ran from the lab as the first cadaver was brought out of the cooler and were never to be seen from again. For a moment I questioned my decision but it turned out to be one of my favorite classes. In my four years at Palmer, other classes I particularly enjoyed were human physiology and anatomy, xray, diagnosis, chiropractic technique, and patient care. I graduated with honors in 1992 and set up my practice in Kelowna a few short months later.
Our vision for our practice is to build a healthier community by helping health conscious families express their full human potential. We do this not merely with chiropractic adjustments but by teaching our practice members about living a healthy lifestyle and combatting the stresses that are the root of so many problems. We have a very diverse and interesting family practice. The youngest practice member was adjusted just a few days after birth and our oldest was 94. In my early years I focussed on athletes and worked with the Okanangan Sun Football Team for 12 years so we see a lot of high level athletes. Once I had my own family, children became my passion and we see a lot of kids. There is not a better feeling for me than helping a colicy baby stop crying, relieving a young childs headaches, or helping a child get off their ADHD medication. We of course serve their parents as well.
I am married to Tori, who I met at UBC and we have two awesome boys. My practice members always ask me what I do with all the time I am not in the office. Well, it is actually quite simple. My boys play rep hockey, allstar baseball, and fill in the off days with some golf, snowboarding, and a regular music lesson. In the meantime, I try to get in a round of golf or two per week or get out on my mountain bike as often as I can. I now understand what my parents used to mean when they commented on how much faster the years go by as you get older. I have to say, I am more often starting to appreciate a glass of red wine and a book by the pool.
We try to live the chiropractic lifestyle as much as possible. I see my chiropractor and massage therapist once a week, every week. I check my boys multiple times per week, especially with their hectic sports schedule and hours studying and sitting in school. My oldest son has only had his first set of vaccinations to which he had a reaction and my youngest son has never been vaccinated and he is the healthiest kid I have ever known. Ask me about that if you have children. I try to exercise 4-5 times per week. I hate the traditional gym workout but love riding my mountain bike, playing hockey with my friends, or running around with the kids (I can still almost keep up!)
Thanks for visiting our site. I look forward to meeting you in person and helping you in the same way chiropractic care has served my family. Give our office a call, or email me using the link below and let’s arrange a time to explore your options
